PLAZA CONGRESS HOTEL POERTSCHACH

The building site is located in the center of Pörtschach, directly adjacent to Monte Carlo Platz. A new center for encounters and contacts of all kinds is to be created here. The planned new building takes up the street alignment emphasized by the existing buildings and forms a right angle to the south. The angular arrangement of the structure encloses a green area that faces away from the street and connects to the square. The building mass takes into account the existing structures along the street and appropriately emphasizes the center of Pörtschach with the newly designed Monte Carlo Square. The structure and scale of the building should ensure a harmonious transition to the subsequent development on the one hand and the architectural expression of a central urban building, a landmark, on the other.
A translucent flying roof construction, which develops from the structure of the building and cantilevers more or less far over the square, is proposed, which enables a column-free, diverse event use in the outdoor area. The new building of the Congress Hotel has an elevated ground floor with an inserted gallery floor, two upper floors with a small roof attachment and two basement floors. The ground floor is set back significantly from the street side. The entrance situation to the Congress Hotel is architecturally striking, spatially clear and functionally arranged. Through the large-area glazing, it shows insights into the foyer zone with shops, cafe and restaurant, a clear gesture to those arriving and offers a generously covered front zone.
On the outside, the building appears clearly structured due to the horizontal emphasis of the surrounding parapet strips, on the inside it is clearly organized and offers good orientation.
