EXPANSION OF LIEBOCH STATION

The existing receiving building was opened in April 1860 together with the Graz - Köflacher - Eisenbahn and already expanded in 1873 by one building axis.
It was repeatedly adapted to requirements through the installation of sanitary groups, offices etc. and in 2018 the existing attic was expanded for office use.
In order to cover the increased need for office space, the side wings will be increased by one floor. The existing hipped roofs will be demolished, the extension will be built on the existing ceilings and walls in a lightweight construction made of glued laminated timber elements combined with steel constructions. A new external staircase will be added to the north-west wing, which will serve as a connection between the offices and as an additional escape staircase. The facade of the new, cantilevered structure consists of continuous ribbon windows (aluminum and glass construction) with sun protection elements made of horizontal, rotatable slats and a curtained, horizontally structured metal facade made of patinated titanium zinc sheet. The historic existing facade is being renovated and returned to its original colour.
