PUBLIC LIBRARY OF THE STATE OF JALISCO

The new library of Guadalajara is a part of Cesar Pelli´s masterplan for the extension of the university on the southern city-border. The goal was the design of a prestigious object with a strong appearance, which can display the "adventure literature". The entry is reached over a rising basement, which contains the meetingrooms. There, the cafeteria and the browsing collection is situated. All parts of the building are connected via broad bridges and skywalks. It is there, where interesting and strong perspectives are found between the collections and also the administration and library. The book-collection, as well as the administration in the upper floors, are arranged around two wide courtyards, which are separated from the visistors and are used as calmer reading-zones.In addition, another courtyard in the west is breaking up the arrangement.
